The focus of this blog is business initiative and strategy in Developing Countries and Emerging Markets

In terms of regions, the Global South is under the spotlight. The BRIC countries, and sometimes the PIGS, take the stage in this blog.

The task is to discuss concepts such as FDI, CSR, Innovation and Sustainability, as well as to present concrete initiatives and be critical towards them.

The importance of corporations in western societies is rather evident.  In underdeveloped countries they can make the difference between extreme poverty and a decent life. While its power can be devastating and undermine the most basic human rights, it can too eliminate hunger and support human dignity through access to education or basic needs such as drinking water or clean energy. The most important aspect is that its power is at our disposition.

There is a good side to business. Many corporations are inspiring, creative, innovative, sustainable and profitable, but most importantly, they are out there to solve real problems and needs - have you heard of BOP or microfinance?

The world is in the hands of corporations. And corporations are in our hands.

All comments, remarks, notes, observations, suggestions, proposals, recommendations or even insinuations are mostly welcome
